(More customer reviews)This was the grand finale to the wonderful lifespan of the Super Nintendo. In 1997 Nintendo decided to draw to a close the run of what was and probably still is the most successful system of all (to me at least, lol), but not without showing it's appreciation towards so many faithful customers for all the great years. In a similar fashion to what they did to bid a fond farewell to the NES in 1993, they released a fairly limited run of "Mini" SNES's.
The reason I say "fairly" limited is because it is somewhat easier to find than the 1993 NES which is pretty much an "EBay only" collector's item. Be that as it may, this is a collector's item as well and a very nice looking system compared to the original. One thing people should make a note of though; many companies try to make cheap, tasteless imitations of the SNES and NES consoles. Yobo is the most common example, a Chinese manufacturer that's nothing more than a thief that steals money from customers that aren't careful about how they buy. These low-quality imitations have no collector's value; they often have parts failures, and can even damage games. It can be difficult when you order an NES or SNES because you never know if it will be a genuine article or one of these pieces of junk, sellers will try to trick you sometimes. You just have to find the ones that you absolutely feel you can trust to give you the REAL product, fortunately there are a lot of good sellers out there that post exactly what type of system they're selling. Please, on everything that is good and true in the world of gaming, buy the real systems, it'll save you a lot of frustration and most important, money. Besides, real fans of Nintendo buy systems that are actually made by Nintendo, don't give into thieves.
Anyways, I own a '97 SNES myself and like one other person posted, they do last longer and work better because of the newer parts, namely the pin-connector. Just make sure you always take good care of it, keep it clean, test your games on it, and most of all...have fun!!
