(More customer reviews)I am giving this game a 4 star rating but honestly believe it deserves a 4.5. Historically it is complete. The interface does take a bit ofgetting use to but once you got it you move right along. Understand this is for hard core war gamers this is no popcorn and beer game. It is accurate in units, weapons and terrain. great stuff. I have a few cons which is why I gave rated it 4.5 instead of 5:
1. The Scenario Editor does not appear to allow you to import your own Order of Battle without having to completely make a new scenario. Difficult to explain unless you got the game but what if I wanted to try and see if I could hold Wake Island if the troops had the M-1 Garand with its higher rate of fire or if the moral of the my troops were higher. There is a work around but it sure seems silly not to have put that into the editor functions.
2. I would have liked unit campaigns which follow the unit historical through their battles, increase veteran status, ranking, etc. I think immediately of the 1st Marine Division...
3. I also would have like some non-historical campaigns so I could have a Plt/Bn fight through all the battles of the Pacific... wishful thinking.
Having said all this, it is a fantastic game and a improvement on John Tiller's Campaign series which I also own - all of them. I intend to buy 'Advance of the Reich' as soon as I finish playing all these battles...but I really would have like some campaign type play built into it. Yeah, I know, it's not historical accurate but but sometimes that's fun too!
