(More customer reviews)We bought this with being "green" in mind.That said, the concept of a Wii unit and rechargeable battery pack stand is great and this one looked well engineered and should have kept our gaming area neat and tidy.With pretty good Amazon reviews, this one seemd to fit the bill and we took the plunge.
After more then a month's use, in the end, the unit and battery packs just didn't work out as planned.Before you purchase, consider the following:
1)There were not instructions, hints, advice or pictures shipped with the unit.Nothing but the charger, cord and battery packs in a plain brown box that did not hold up well in shipping.It's easy enough figure out how to put it together but some kind of guide would have reassured us that we were using it correctly.
2)The most play time we get out of a charge is about two hours and this seems to vary from one battery pack to another.At least one battery pack is defective, never coming to full charge, according to the charging stand (light under it stays red), and will not hold any charge for more then two days if left idle.
3)The blue light that the unit gives off is bright and annoying - ours sits in our home theather area and we get to see it glow every time we darken the room to watch a movie.Some well-placed electrical tape will block out some of the light but not all.
4)If you add a Wii Motion Plus sensor to your Wii Mote - and you probably will - , you will have to remove it each time you want to charge the battery pack, meaning you will have to disassemble your remote alot!With the motion sensor installed, the battery packs will not touch the charger contacts.Taking the remote apart is a pain and, in the long run, probably not good for the motion sensor or its rubber grip or the Wii Mote.And, you cannot charge the battery packs if they are not installed in a remote.
As you can probably tell from the points above, we are disappointed with this unit.What we should have done was buy a decent AA battery charger and batteries (do some research before you go this route as not all chargers are alike) and skipped this thing completely.
