(More customer reviews)I bought one of these boards about a year ago and installed it in a cocktail cabinet from ArcadeShop Amusements. All of the games use vertical orientation. You can configure it for free-play or coin-op.Five of the games: Galaga, Ms Pacman, Pacman, Pacman Jr, and Pacman Plus, have two copies installed. The idea is to have two different DIP switch settings for the same game. For example, you can have a normal Ms. Pacman and "hyper" Ms. Pacman selectable from the main menu.
Deciding how to setup controls for all the games can be a little tricky. Several of the games require an 8-way joystick and two buttons. However, the Pacman type games play better with a 4-way joystick (with an 8-way, it's easy to get stuck trying to turn).A switchable 4- to 8-way joystick would be ideal, but I haven't found one that fits my cabinet.
A few minor complaints:
1. Sound--A few of the games (namely Donkey kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Millipede, and Gyruss) don't sound accurate from what I remember from the originals. But I would also point out that the MAME ROMs (at least the versions I've tried) don't sound any better.
2. High score save--When you power on/off, only the highest score for each game is saved, not all of the scores. And your initials for the highest score are lost and replaced with game defaults. This is kind of disappointing.
All in all though, pretty happy with this board.I still haven't tried out all of the games; Galaga and Ms Pac Man were the main ones I wanted. If you just want these two games, definitely shop around instead of buying the $3,000+ Ms Pacman/Galaga combos sold by certain overpriced specialty stores.
